On the 6th of January 1929, 7 days after a tragic double drowning at Avoca Beach, the community got together and the foundation club for Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club was formed. Avoca is now one of the safest beaches in Australia located on the beautiful Central Coast and is a popular tourist location for those who visit from Sydney wanting to get away from the noise and traffic of city life.
Avoca Beach is marked as the future location for the skuttling of HMAS Adelaide for sometime in the near future.
