Here is another shot from the same day as the image below. A bit more care has been taken in the editing. This image appeals to be more because of the warmth where the sun is rising and the light trail in the water.
Unlike the shot below this image is just a single shot edited. No HDR, no multiple exposure. Let me know what you think.
Canon 1Ds Mark II | 24-70mm f2.8 lens shot at 24mm | F11 @ 1/4 sec | 200 iso | .9 lee filter ND soft grad
Nice one again, but that sky doesn’t quite grab me. I think I prefer the first one.
Yea it is a personal choice Merv, but I think the dark sky ads drama to the scene and makes the red and greens in the photo stand out more.
I love the drama of this one, has much more contrast (maybe a tad too much) than the evenly lit HDR version.
Yeah maybe a little to contrasty in the foreground, but the sky is great!
I would like to see this same composition with a longer exposure so its not as busy.
Cheers
the part that stands out the most to me is the rocks on the mid left probably because of the greater contrast. i would like to see more emphasis placed on the water draining off the immediate foreground rocks. i also feel there’s too much sky (and they seem a bit noisy for iso 200). i know it’s stormy and you would like to emphasise it but I think a tighter crop would be helpful. the editing is good though, very clean.
Thanks for the feedback. I think I lot of contrast and sky noise came with the web sharpening (smart sharpen). I will be heading back to this location to shoot it again. It is almost like my test site as a lot of angles to work on. Stay tuned more images are coming. Next will be a panoramic from this spot, the weather over here at the moment has been shocking.
I can see why you keep going back, looks amazing. Nice image mat.
Nice shot mate ,
Yeah prefer this one to the others love the reflection of the sun along the water there sky looks great
