It’s nice to finally head out again and shoot. Been a few days stuck in doors because of bad weather. So I headed out to this new spot that I visited during the recent dust storms.
Having looked at the final panoramic I wished I had of shot it at a different angle and back further from the shore line as I really don’t like the curved effect in the foreground. But this will make a nice addition to my stock images.

Nice shot Matt, the colours of the boat just pop out at you. I see what you mean about the curved effect of the shoreline especially coming in and out of the scene. Have you tried cropping the entire left part of the photo so the shoreline there dissapears and a little on the right to make it more of a 3:1 ratio? The composition might get too cramped I don’t know?
Mike yea the 3:1 ratio is to cramped of a composition and I want to keep the left pylon reflection in the shot as well. Just got to chalk it down to needing a re shoot.
Hi Matt,
If i look at this shot i would consider a step forward and shoot more to the right. Ending up with the waterline from the left to 1/3 from the right. You also create a little bit more depth in the shot. But i am not from OZ and don’t know the location… Or maybe you can shoot from standing in the water? Just some ideas. What you think?
Best wishes Corne
Yea standing in the water isn’t an option as you will be way to close. But moving to the right will be the cure to making this shot work better. Stay tuned I will be re shooting this spot.
Thanks for the update and i am looking forward to the reshoot.
yeah i reckon if you moved to the right and back a little it would looks better .. :), but this shot is still sweet
