Surf Gallery
In December 1914 it is said that Australian surfing history is said to have begun with “The Duke” a Hawaiian Olympic champion introduced surfing to us Aussies. He was invited to give a demonstration to what surfing was and how to do it. So he grabbed a piece of Queensland Sugar pine and knocked himself out a surfboard. At Freshwater Beach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, he picked a 16-year-old girl from the crowd and gave her the first recorded surfing lesson where she actually caught and rode waves. From here the rest is history and surfing became part of our beach culture and lifestyle.
In the sixty’s Australian life guards introduced surfing to Europe.
